JIM WILHELMSEN Jim says he cannot offer any degrees bearing a title before or after his name. He says he is not a well-known figure of reputation. In spite of this, he has something important to say, as strange sounding as it is. As a new Christian, he had a difficult time integrating his new faith with some of the knowledge he had about U.F.O.’s. For him this was a pressing issue. He really needed to have some answers by scripture. The apparent silence and lack of understanding by the church did not help. (I can relate) He had to dig for answers himself. In 1976, he received three scriptures; Genesis 6:1-13, Daniel 11:36-38 and Revelations 11:9. He knew by this that something happened before the flood that somehow was related to U.F.O’s and would possibly happen again in the “end-times.” He was satisfied for the time and set it aside sensing that someday he would have to study further and write about it. Because he had no prior experience with organized church, he began a whirlwind tour, prayerfully searching for where he should go. This got him into an encounter with a cult group. This experience was very disheartening but a good lesson. Don’t trust anyone. Searched the scriptures for himself and verify everything according to them. In 1975 He was befriended by a man who has since authored several books on cults. He will leave him anonymous because he might prefer to distance himself from ideas that are so unconventional. He taught Jim how to use reference books to study the Bible in the original languages. He did some research for him on one of his books and fell in love with the whole research process. In 1979 he enrolled into an extension of Central Bible College in Detroit. (Assembles of God). At this time he was already in ministry full time. He had an inner city ministry working with gangs. In the 60's he had an experience as a member of a motorcycle club, and started one of the nation’s first evangelical Christian Motorcycle clubs, The King's Kids. (The ministry appeared on the 700 club in 1980.) Jim would like to play the rest of this down and be “level headed” and “down to earth” in his presentation of this whole matter. But he would be watering down the whole process and falsely representing what he does have to share. Jim neither believe's himself to be that imaginative or intelligent enough to figure out these matters by myself. It is not by his own efforts or reason that he came to the conclusions that he is going to share with you. They came to him supernaturally at first. It started with a dream... Which I will ask him to tell us. This Experience demanded discernment by the Word of God . This began his search and research of the scriptures for answers. This process has continued right up to this day. He has had other dreams and visions since that first one. They have served as clues and pointers to help in approaching the scriptures. Part of his Christian discipleship stresses that anything we encounter natural or supernatural must be referenced with scripture and compatible to the written Word of God. With all diligence, obedience and faithfulness he has done his best to find the answers to this mystery and in this way to be an obedient servant of the Lord. Mac Tonnies is a 27 year-old futurist and writer whose science fiction stories and speculative essays have appeared in a variety of print and online publications. Mac appreciates thought-provoking literature, weird and/or subversive ideas, and bleeding-edge art and science. Tonnies is the author of "Illumined Black" and the forthcoming "After the Martian Apocalypse" a nonfiction book (Simon & Schuster, early 2004). Science fiction is his preferred literary vehicle. He lives in Kansas City, Missouri. Mac's central interests are cosmology, exobiology and technology. He tends to think in the future-tense. He perceives reality as a consensual hallucination that forces us to define our sense of identity without recourse to superstition. Mac loves 80s pop music; some of his favorite bands are The Cure, R.E.M., Talking Heads, and The Smiths. Politically, he doesn't think he falls into any particular category. Mac also is very interested in Mars and has a cool web site devoted to his independent take on planetary SETI and related issues. REFERENCE IMAGES & LINKS TO DISCUSSION: |
